<p>My stats on 11/10/09:</p>

<li>waist: 43″</li>
<li>hips: 53″</li>
</ul>
<p>Now, my body fat went up, presumably, the nurse says, because of the alcohol. Yes, I told my nurse I drank this week. Another week coming up!</p>

It helps that my appetite has diminished (except for the aforementioned PMS cravings I&#8217;ve been having) and the fact that it doesn&#8217;t really feel like I&#8217;m dieting &#8211; I eat all the time. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well folks, it&#8217;s been six weeks. That&#8217;s probably the longest I&#8217;ve every stayed on a diet. It helps that my appetite has diminished (except for the aforementioned PMS cravings I&#8217;ve been having) and the fact that it doesn&#8217;t really feel like I&#8217;m dieting &#8211; I eat all the time. Funny I eat more now than I did 15 lbs heavier.</p>
<p>My stats on 10/27/09:</p>
<ul>
<li>weight: 225 lbs (-1.6 / -16.1)</li>
<li>Body fat: 43.2 (-2.4/ -6.2)</li>
<li>waist: 43&#8243;</li>
<li>hips: 53&#8243;</li>
</ul>
<p>I&#8217;m glad I&#8217;m losing weight, but I really wanted to have lost twice as much as I actually have. Baby steps, I know. My doctor (and most doctors) recommend losing no more than 1-2 pounds per week, and that&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been doing. Not willingly though!</p>

<p>I found this article on WebMD regarding my question:</p>
<blockquote><p>Do you find yourself successfully dieting for three weeks at a time, only to succumb to an uncontrollable urge to scarf down a few calorie-laden hot fudge sundaes as that time of the month rolls around? You&#8217;re not alone.</p>
<p>As many as 85% of women experience at least one symptom of PMS, the disruptive physical and emotional changes that can strike anytime in the last 2 weeks of the menstrual cycle, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. And as many as 70% of these women suffer from PMS-related food cravings, bloating, fatigue, sleep disturbances, mood swings, and irritability &#8212; any of which have the potential to sabotage your diet, says Judith Wurtman, PhD, director of the women&#8217;s health program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.</p>
<p>Fortunately, a better understanding of PMS in general and food cravings specifically can keep women from getting caught in a diet-destroying cycle.</p>
<p>Diet Double Whammy</p>
<p>PMS packs a double whammy against a diet, Wurtman says. &#8220;First, you have food cravings, usually for sweet, starchy foods with an underlay of fat, like chocolate ice cream. And then, your bad mood makes you say, &#8216;To hell with it!&#8217; You lose your willpower to exercise any control over what you are eating.&#8221;</p>
<p>The bloating that often goes with PMS also sabotages a diet, says Stephen Goldstein, MD, an obstetrician-gynecologist at New York University. &#8220;A woman steps on the scale and freaks out. And some people&#8217;s response to being bloated and having to loosen their belt is to drown themselves in an ice cream sundae.&#8221;</p>
<p>And what do we break down and eat when those cravings hit? Chocolate is No. 1 on the hit parade, followed generally by other sweets, Goldstein says. Salty foods, particularly chips, are a distant third.</p>
<p>&#8220;You never find anything nutritious on the A-list,&#8221; agrees Wurtman, noting that women rarely come in complaining of cravings for fish, fruits, and vegetables. &#8220;If it&#8217;s a dieting no-no, you can bet the PMS mind is saying, &#8216;Yes, yes,&#8217;&#8221; she says.</p></blockquote>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week was the first time in over a month I added carbs to my diet. Apples. I love apples. I&#8217;ve had three. I also had more vegetables. I was very leery at first because I lost so little weight last week, but my body needed the carbs. I did, however, increase my exercise &#8211; walking or biking twice a day, did the ab-lounger thing &#8211; all in all, I felt energetic enough to WANT to do more. It was great.</p>
<p>My stats on 10/27/09:</p>
<ul>
<li>weight: 226.2 lbs (-4.4 / -14.5)</li>
<li>Body fat: 45.6 (-1.3/ -3.8)</li>
<li>waist: 45&#8243;</li>
<li>hips: 54.5&#8243;</li>
</ul>
<p>Today when I went in for my weekly appointment, I weighed in at 226.2 with a body fat of 45.6. Lost a little over 4lbs, and 1% body fat. That&#8217;s awesome! Let&#8217;s hope I can maintain the momentum&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was a little worried after last weeks&#8217; doctor visit; finding I&#8217;d only lost half a pound after a week of keeping on my diet was a little more distressing than I let on to. Last night though, I stepped on the scale to find I was down to 229!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m feeling fit too &#8211; before, my knees and ankles ached just as I started walking, and soon became winded. I was always looking for the shortest walk between two points. Now, I&#8217;ve been biking every morning with the dog and this weekend I walked as well &#8211; I had planned to walk just around the block but I was listening to the headphones, bouncing along in my new gym shorts, and decided to go farther. It felt great!</p>
<p>My legs look muscular now, my arm flab has tightened up a bit &#8230; overall, I can tell the difference. Now I&#8217;m waiting for other people to notice!</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve been sick the latter part this week so I haven&#8217;t been eating much at all, but I did not cheat. The nurse told me to expect that I won&#8217;t lose weight some weeks. I knew that, and I knew that I didn&#8217;t lose weight before I went to my appointment. I&#8217;m okay with not losing anything, but it&#8217;s still a little disappointing!</p>

When we first went here, I was a little concerned because as a big girl, I didn&#8217;t want to ruin anyone&#8217;s trampoline but in all honesty, I shouldn&#8217;t have worried at all. The tramps are sturdy and can easily accommodate me!</p>
<p>When I go, I alternate between five minutes of jumping, a few minutes of break.  An hours&#8217; time is more than enough to get a good workout; whenever I go here, I feel great after, then sore for the next two days. It&#8217;s awesome!</p>
<p>If your trampoline can handle it, go for height.  Jump as high as you can and use your arms to propel you as high as you can go, sort of like jumping jacks except you&#8217;re landing with both feet together. Surprisingly, my arms get an awesome workout (who knew that trampolining was good for your arms?)  and my thighs get especially tight. Don&#8217;t lock your knees when you land &#8211; keeping them flexible will help tone your thighs and butt.</p>
<p>A word of caution though: If your joints feel like they need a break, take one. I took a friend who, after a half hour of intermittent jumping, mentioned her knee felt weak. She didn&#8217;t heed the warning and continued jumping, at which point a tendon in her knee slipped. Two weeks later, many doctor visits, and a lot of pain later, she&#8217;s still in a wheelchair. Listen to your body and don&#8217;t lock those knees!</p>
<p>Expect to sweat and have fun!</p>
